Conference takeaways by Joe Webb
This year’s WEFTEC broke all records: An estimated 30k plus visitors attended this water technology show and some 1000+ exhibitors packed the exhibition hall. Joe Webb attended with a SIGMA team, walking the floors and meeting with industry heavyweights on both the distributor and vendor level. ”There’s always a strong international presence at WEFTEC. This year saw a particularly strong turnout from Canada, South-East Asia and Europe.
“The buzz at the moment is for in-line technology – the technology that lets you see inside the infrastructure while it’s underground. Utilities and contractors want to understand exactly what’s in the ground and where it’s located. There were some interesting technologies for seeing inside pipes and traceability is the hot issue. Another area of emphasis was linings and coatings for waterworks material. These linings and coatings are used for cathodic protection, sewer protection and the best way ensure the durability of the pipe or fittings. “It was an interesting show and we look forward to Chicago next year”, comments Webb.
